InterPED Showcased at 32nd Telecommunications Forum (Telfor)

From November 26 to 27, 2024, the 32nd Telecommunications Forum (Telfor) brought together industry leaders, researchers, and professionals in Belgrade, Serbia, to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for innovation in telecommunications and IT. The forum highlighted key topics such as 5G and 6G technologies, IoT and smart devices, machine learning, cybersecurity, green technologies, and sustainable IT.

Among the prominent participants was the Mihajlo Pupin Institute (IMP), a key partner in the InterPED project, showcasing its innovative solutions and contributions to Positive Energy Districts (PEDs).

As part of the forum, IMP presented the project’s vision for advancing Positive Energy Districts (PEDs), focusing on integrating renewable energy sources, storage systems, and innovative digital tools to create sustainable urban energy solutions. The presentation emphasized the project’s role in enabling energy flexibility and grid resilience, critical for Europe’s energy transition goals.

Beyond InterPED, the Mihajlo Pupin Institute demonstrated its broader technological capabilities:

  • Railway Dispatching System: A solution modernizing communication in railway traffic, enhancing operational efficiency.
  • BVM8 Module: A cutting-edge tool monitoring the status of critical power system machinery, such as thermal and hydro units.

IMP researchers also contributed to the scientific discourse at Telfor through papers tied to EU-funded projects:

  • “IntelliLung AI-DSS Trustworthiness Evaluation Framework”, presented by Miloš Nenadović, explored AI decision-support systems.
  • “Digital Transformation for Local Energy Communities: Challenges and Opportunities (Omega X)”, presented by Dr. Valentina Janev, addressed energy transformation challenges in local communities.

A Platform for Collaboration

Telfor 2024 underscored the importance of collaboration between institutions, industry, and academia in driving innovation. IMP used this platform not only to showcase its projects but also to foster connections with stakeholders working in similar domains, ensuring that projects like InterPED continue to benefit from diverse perspectives and expertise.
