On January 23-24, 2024, the InterPED project officially launched with a Kick-Off Meeting hosted by our coordinator R2M in Spain, gathering partners from across Europe to set the foundation for a transformative approach to Positive Energy Districts (PEDs). This two-day event provided a platform to align on goals, introduce the project’s pilot sites, and outline the next steps in Europe’s journey toward sustainable urban energy systems.
Day 1 Highlights
The meeting opened with introductions and a presentation of InterPED’s objectives: integrating renewable energy sources, enhancing grid stability, and driving community engagement to create PEDs that reduce carbon footprints and increase energy efficiency. The agenda included an overview of each pilot site, showcasing unique opportunities to test InterPED’s solutions in diverse environments. Partners discussed initial plans, challenges, and the collaborative approach required to meet the project’s ambitious goals.
Day 2 Highlights
Day 2 focused on project management, administrative guidance, and technical insights. The European Commission’s Project Advisor joined to emphasize the importance of effective dissemination and data management practices. The meeting wrapped up with a roadmap of upcoming milestones, risk management strategies, and a look at future General Assembly meetings set across different European locations.
Moving Forward
The Kick-Off Meeting marked a successful start to InterPED’s mission. Over the next 36 months, the project will demonstrate advanced energy solutions at four pilot sites, each acting as a model for scalable, sustainable PEDs. With an innovative approach to energy management and a dedicated team, InterPED is ready to make strides in Europe’s energy transition.
Stay tuned for updates as we move forward in creating cleaner, more resilient energy solutions for communities across Europe!
