In September 2024, the InterPED project took part in the 12th edition of Sustainable Places (SP2024), Europe’s premier event for EU research collaboration and sustainable market opportunities. The event, co-organized by our partner R2M and held in Luxembourg from September 23-25, brought together stakeholders from across Europe to discuss key themes related to sustainability and the energy transition.
A highlight of the event was the workshop “Empowering Cities Through Positive Energy Districts: Strategies and Implementation,” where InterPED was presented alongside five other projects focused on creating Positive Energy Districts (PEDs). Speakers shared their projects’ objectives, innovative approaches, and the challenges they face in implementing PEDs, including data management, financial mechanisms, and community engagement. A lively roundtable discussion followed with panelists offering insights into the importance of regulatory frameworks and community involvement in achieving sustainable urban energy systems.
Key speakers included:
- Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo (MAKING-CITY)
- Laura Bordo (RENplusHOMES)
- Xingxing Zhang (PED-ACT)
- Lorena Sanchez Relaño (InterPED)
- Julia Schließauf (SPARCs)
- Mohaddeseh Maktabifard (ASCEND)
The workshop attracted around 40 attendees and provided a valuable platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing on how PEDs can contribute to the European energy transition.
Stay tuned for more updates from InterPED as we continue to shape the future of sustainable urban environments!
