On 29 September 2025, InterPED participated in the 2nd CINEA Cluster Meeting on Positive Energy Neighbourhoods and Districts, held in Brussels. The event brought together Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects working on Positive Energy Neighbourhoods (PENs) and Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) to share results, explore replication strategies, and strengthen collaboration across Europe.
InterPED joined the Interoperability – Energy Systems Integration cluster session, alongside PEDvolution and HARMONISE. Together, the projects showcased innovative solutions for integrating diverse energy vectors, enhancing flexibility, and enabling interoperability across local energy systems.

Contributing to the Roundtables
InterPED actively contributed to the afternoon roundtable discussions:
- Presenting results clearly – We emphasized the need for structured, layered communication of project results, moving from simple, layperson-friendly explanations to deeper technical details. This approach ensures that outcomes are accessible and relatable, while still offering depth for expert audiences.
- Upscaling and replication – We highlighted the importance of embedding social sciences and humanities (SSH) aspects in energy projects. Social processes take time, and meaningful community engagement is essential for empowering citizens and ensuring the long-term uptake of PED solutions beyond the project’s lifetime.

Strengthening the PED Community
The meeting also served as a platform for InterPED to connect with peer projects, policy stakeholders, and CINEA representatives, reinforcing our role within the broader European PED innovation ecosystem. By sharing lessons learned and discussing replication challenges, InterPED contributes to building scalable, citizen-centred energy models that can be adapted across Europe.
