InterPED at the EnergyScope Symposium: Driving Innovation in Energy Systems Modeling

On October 3-4, 2024, Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), a key partner in the InterPED project, collaborated with Haute École Spécialisée Suisse Occidentale (HEVS) and ETH Zurich to organize the EnergyScope Symposium in Zurich, Switzerland. This two-day event gathered over 30 researchers and energy modelers from renowned institutions worldwide, including those from Canada, New Zealand, France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Italy.

The symposium provided a unique opportunity to present InterPED to the EnergyScope community, sparking meaningful discussions about aligning district-level energy modeling (a focus of InterPED’s WP5) with regional-level energy modeling—EnergyScope’s primary domain.

Participants also explored the integration of Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) and multi-criteria approaches within energy system models, essential components of InterPED’s Work Package 5. These discussions are instrumental in advancing InterPED’s goal of delivering innovative, scalable energy solutions for Positive Energy Districts (PEDs).

By fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue, events like the EnergyScope Symposium play a critical role in shaping the future of sustainable energy systems.
